Overview
If you’re interested in applying for another loan, you can start by checking your rate.
Checking your rate is the first step in the application process and uses a soft credit check, which does not impact your credit score.
This step allows us to review your information and determine what loan options you may be eligible for, but it does not mean you are approved for a loan.
How to check your rate
Log into your My Account either on the web or via the Upstart mobile app.
At the bottom of your My Account dashboard, you will see cards for various Upstart loan products. Select one of these to begin the rate check process.
What it means to check your rate
During this step:
- A soft credit check is performed.
- Your information is reviewed to assess potential eligibility.
- You may be shown loan options based on this initial review.
These options are not approved offers. They are estimates based on limited information.
What happens next
If you choose to move forward after checking your rate, you’ll continue with a full application.
During this step:
- A hard credit check is performed
- Additional information may be reviewed or verified
- A final lending decision is made
You may be approved or declined at this stage.
Important Information
- Checking your rate does not guarantee loan approval.
- Final approval only happens after completing a full application and hard credit check.
- Upstart does not currently offer refinancing for personal loans or allow borrowers to increase the amount of an existing personal loan. However, eligible borrowers may apply for another loan. If approved, borrowers can choose how to use the funds, including paying off an existing loan balance.
