Overview
Auto loan refinancing through Upstart’s platform is only available for personal-use vehicles. Vehicles registered as commercial, business, or fleet vehicles are not eligible for refinancing.
If your vehicle is used for business purposes, you may be asked to provide documentation or clarification about how the vehicle is used before your application is processed.
How Do I Know If My Vehicle Is Considered Commercial?
Your vehicle may be classified as commercial if:
✔ It is registered to a business name rather than an individual.
✔ It is used primarily for business purposes, such as deliveries, rideshare services, or company use.
✔ It has a commercial license plate, registration, or insurance policy.
✔ It is part of a fleet or leased under a business entity.
If your vehicle meets any of these criteria, it will not qualify for auto loan refinancing through Upstart.
What Are My Options If I Have a Commercial Vehicle?
If you need financing for a commercial vehicle, consider the following options:
✔ Check with your current lender – Your existing lender may offer refinancing options for business-use vehicles.
✔ Look into commercial auto loans – Some financial institutions specialize in business vehicle financing.
✔ Contact banks or credit unions – Some lenders may allow refinancing for vehicles used in rideshare or business services under specific conditions.
What If My Vehicle Is for Both Personal and Business Use?
If your vehicle is used for both personal and business purposes, it may still qualify for refinancing. You may need to provide documentation confirming that the primary use is personal rather than commercial.
💡 Tip: If you are unsure whether your vehicle qualifies, you can start an application to check eligibility. Checking your rate is a soft credit inquiry and will not impact your credit score.
