If you're having trouble making your loan payment, you're not alone. Temporary financial challenges can happen, and we may have loan assistance options to help you manage your payments.

If possible, we encourage you to review your options before your due date to avoid additional interest, fees, or potential credit impact.

How to Request Financial Assistance

  1. Log into your Upstart account. You must be logged into your account in order to access the loan assistance application. After logging into your account you can apply here.
  2. Submit your request—our team will review your application and may request additional information.
  3. You’ll receive an update within 7 business days via email and your dashboard.
  4. If approved, you'll see personalized assistance options in your account.
  5. If you have multiple loans, a separate request is required for each loan.

Relief Loan Flexible Payment Options

Relief loan borrowers may have access to payment flexibility specific to this loan product.

  • If available, you’ll see a “Repayment Flexibility” section on your relief loan dashboard.  
  • You can review your eligibility progress and see potential updates to your payment plan.
  • Eligibility is unlocked by building positive payment history early in your loan term. 

Important: 

A one-time non-refundable fee may apply when changing your repayment plan. Term extensions are reported to credit bureaus as loan modifications.

Who May Qualify for Loan Assistance?

Eligibility depends on your loan status and payment history.

  • You may qualify if you’ve made sufficient prior payments and your loan is in good standing.
  • Your loan must not be in its final payment period, already settled, or charged off.
  • Each situation is uniqueEven if you’re unsure you qualify, submit a request and we’ll review your options.
  • If you’re not eligible, we’ll provide next steps via email and your dashboard.

What Happens If You're Approved?

  1. Log into your Upstart account to review your available options.
  2. Select the option that works best for you and confirm the updated payment terms.
  3. Choose a future payment method and finalize your plan.

Will Loan Assistance Affect My Credit?
