Overview
Not all banks and credit unions are integrated with Plaid. If your financial institution isn’t listed, you can still manually connect your account for payments.
This guide explains alternative ways to link your bank account if Plaid does not support your financial institution.
1. Double-Check Your Bank’s Name in Plaid
- Some banks and credit unions have slightly different names in Plaid than what appears on your statements.
- Try searching by bank name variations or using the official name listed on your bank’s website.
💡 Tip: If your bank recently merged with another institution, it may be listed under the new bank’s name.
2. Manually Add Your Bank Account for Verification
If your bank isn’t available through Plaid, you can manually enter your account details and verify your bank using one of three methods.
How to Add a New Bank Account
- Log into your Upstart account.
- Select the loan you want to update and go to the Bank Accounts section.
- Click Add Bank Account at the bottom of the page.
- Choose one of the three verification methods:
Bank Account Verification Methods
- ✔ Bank Login via Plaid (Fastest Method): Use your online banking credentials to instantly verify your account.
- ✔ Voided Check Upload: Submit a clear image of a voided check from your account. Verification is completed within one business day.
-
✔ Small Deposits Verification:
- Enter your account and routing details.
- Upstart will deposit two small test amounts into your bank account within 2–3 business days.
- Once received, log into My Account, select your loan, and enter the exact deposit amounts to verify your account.
💡 Note: Your bank account must be verified before you can use it for AutoPay or manual payments. If you have multiple loans, you must update your bank account details for each loan separately.
3. Contact Upstart Support for Assistance
If you’re still unable to link your bank account, contact Upstart Customer Support for assistance. They may be able to help troubleshoot or provide alternative solutions for making payments.
